All students must pass a placement test before they can register for a course.

All students who have completed and passed a particular level or course and who wish to register in another level or course can do so without passing a placement test as long as it is done within 6 months of finishing the previous course.

Tests are free every Wednesday. The following are the times for placement testing for the different languages that we teach:

French and English :
12:30pm – 5:30pm
Spanish : 12:30pm – 5:30pm
Italian : 4:30pm – 5:30pm
Portuguese : 4:30pm – 5:30pm
Mandarin : 4:30pm – 5:30pm

There is a $20 charge for testing at all other times.

In this course, you practice for the listening and reading comprehension segments of the test in class and in the computer lab. You also work on vocabulary building, review grammar and learn test-taking strategies. Practice tests are given every week.

The focus is on the SOUNDS of English, including all of the vowel sounds of standard North American English and the consonants that cause students particular difficulty. The course is given in the computer lab for easy access to individualized practice. Linking and syllable stress are also addressed.

This course focuses on the four language skills of reading, listening, speaking, and writing to prepare you for the TOEFL iBT test. Practice of these skills will be both separate and integrated. You will also learn strategies and practice both mini tests and complete tests which have been installed in our computer lab and quite closely simulate the actual internet-based test. Our complete course consists of 3 consecutive 4-week sessions. Students can choose to do 1 session or 2, or 3 depending on their level of preparedness for the test.
